Mount Kinabalu

Mount Kinabalu (4095M) is one of the easier peak to conquer, situated in Kinabalu National Park. There no requirement for previous experience to climb these mountain, for those with a reasonable fitness and have the willpower to climb can try to conquer this mountain. Most climber take two days 1 night to ascend and descend Mount Kinabalu however due to the accommodation in Laban Rata Area is manage by one sole operator, thus planning their trip above three months will need to purchase the three days two nights ready package from "Sutera Santuary Lodges". Below is few tips for those who wish to climb this mountain. I will list down step-by step guideline and hope this will help in preparing your wonderful journey to conquer Mount Kinabalu. Gunung Kinabalu andalah salah satu puncak yang mudah di takluki,
terletak di Taman Kinabalu, Sabah. Ia tidak memerlukan pengalaman sebelumnya untuk mendaki gunung ini. Bagi mereka yang mempunyai kecerdasan yang munasabah dan mempunyai tekad untuk mendaki boleh cuba untuk menakluki gunung ini. Kebanyakan pendaki mengambil masa dua hari 1 malam untuk naik dan turun Gunung Kinabalu namun kerana penginapan di Kawasan Rata Laban dikendalikan oleh pengendali tunggal, jadi bagi mereka yang merancang perjalanan mereka tiga bulan sebelum perjalanan wajib membeli tiga hari dua malam pakej bersedia daripada "Sutera Lodges Santuary ". Berikut adalah beberapa tips untuk mereka yang ingin mendaki gunung ini. Saya akan senaraikan langkah demi langkah panduan dan berharap ini akan membantu dalam memudakan persiapan anda untuk menakluk Gunung Kinabalu.
  • Accommodation is the most important if you wish to climb Mount Kinabalu. As mention above "Sutera Santuary Lodges" is the only main operator for accommodation in Laban rata area. Best way is to contact/ email them directly at sslpresv1@suteraharbour.com.my or call them at +6088 318 888 / +6088 308 478. Once you get through remember to secure your booking. Basically the package is already include meals, accommodation, Mountain guide, entrance fee, climbing permit, Koktas (transpotation return from kinabalu park headquaters to Timpohon gate), insurance and certificate. [Transportation is not included - can be arranged on the day departure to Kinabalu Park]. Penginapan adalah yang paling penting jika anda ingin mendaki Gunung Kinabalu. Seperti yang tersebut di atas "Sutera Lodges Santuary" adalah satu-satunya pengendali utama untuk penginapan di kawasan rata Laban. Sila buat pembayaran penuh supaya anda mempunyai penginapan semasa mendaki gunung dan mengelakkan daripada tempahan anda di batalkan. Pada asasnya pakej sudah termasuk makan, penginapan, Pemandu pelancong, bayaran masuk, permit mendaki, Koktas (Pengangkutan dari ibu pejabat kinabalu park ke Timpohon gate), insurans dan sijil. [Pengangkutan dari Kinabalu ke Taman Kinabalu tidak termasuk - boleh diatur pada bertolak ke Taman Kinabalu].
  • On the day, you can get local transportation at "Bandaran Berjaya" near Kings Park Hotel. Get the bus which going to small town call "Ranau" as Kinabalu Park is along the way. Local transportation will leave as early 7:30am and normally they will only leave to the destination once the transportation full. Remember to remind the driver to drop you at Kinabalu park junction {in malay "Simpang Kinabalu Park"}.Anda boleh mendapatkan pengangkutan awam di "Bandaran Berjaya" berhampiran Kings Park Hotel. Dapatkan bas yang pergi ke pekan "Ranau". Pengangkutan Awam akan bertolak seawal 7:30 pagi dan biasanya mereka hanya akan bertolak ke destinasi sekali pengangkutan penuh. Ingat untuk mengingatkan pemandu supaya menurunkan anda di Simpang Taman Kinabalu.
  • Upon arrival Kinabalu Park, first building you see will be "Sutera Santuary Lodges". Approach them, show your booking confirmation, then i am sure one of the staff will help you on the booking process such as get your climbing tag, pack lunch etc. Apabila tiba di Taman Kinabalu, bangunan pertama yang anda lihat akan "Sutera Lodges Santuary". Pergi ke kaunter, tunjukkan pengesahan tempahan anda, maka saya pasti salah seorang kakitangan yang akan membantu anda dalam proses tempahan seperti mendapatkan tag mendaki anda, pek makan tengah hari dan lain-lain
Optional/ Pilihan:
  • If you need porter charges of RM8/Per Kg will be imposed (In special case, if while climbing you pass your belonging to the guide they are automatically become porter guide and they are allow or eligible to charge you for that). Jika anda memerlukan porter caj RM8/Per kg akan dikenakan (Dalam kes khas, jika semasa mendaki anda menyerahkan sebarang barang milik anda kepada pemandu pelancong maka mereka secara automatik menjadi porter dan mereka dibenarkan atau layak mengenakan bayaran untuk itu).
  • Since the insurance only cover on physical wound, The guest that need to be carry down because of Altitude sickness and not physical would will be charge RM250/KM/ Per person immediately. Insurans hanya meliputi luka fizikal, Tetamu yang perlu dibawa turun kerana Penyakit altitude dan bukan fizikal akan di kenakan RM250/KM caj / seorang dengan serta merta.
Things you should bring:
Suitable walking shoes / warm clothing / wind breaker / long sleeves shirts / change of clothes / drinking water / high energy food (chocolates, nuts, raisins, glucose) Headache tablets / sun block / camera / water proof bag for camera / torchlight / extra socks / towel / gloves / toilet roll. Kasut yang sesuai / pakaian panas / baju lengan panjang / pakaian lebih untuk menukar pakaian yang basah / air minuman / makanan tenaga yang tinggi (coklat, kacang, kismis, glukosa) ubat sakit pening kepala / losyen / kamera / Beg kamera kalis air / lampu suluh / tambahan stoking / tuala / sarung tangan / tisu


Special Note:
It is recommended that all climbers should have themselves medically checked before attempting any mountain climb. If you have a history of suffering from the following ailments, it is highly recommend that you should refrain from climbing: Hypertension, Diabetes, Palpitation, Arthritis, Heart disease, severe anemia, Peptic ulcers, Epileptic fits, Obesity (overweight), Chronic asthma, Muscular cramps, Hepatitis (jaundice); or any other disease which may hamper the climber. Ia adalah disyorkan bahawa semua pendaki harus mempunyai sijil perubatan diperiksa sebelum cuba mendaki gunung. Jika anda mempunyai sejarah mengalami penyakit berikut, ia amat mengesyorkan bahawa anda harus mengelak daripada mendaki: Hipertensi, Diabetes, denyutan, Artritis, penyakit jantung, anemia teruk, ulser peptik, serangan sawan, Obesiti (berat badan berlebihan), asma kronik , kejang otot, Hepatitis (jaundis), atau apa-apa penyakit lain yang boleh menjejaskan pendaki itu.
