Zupper our squirrel

According to Wikipedia. Squirrels belong to a large family of small or medium-sized rodents called the Sciuridae. The family includes tree squirrels, ground squirrels,chipmunks, marmots (including woodchucks), flying squirrels, and prairie dogs. Squirrels are indigenous to the Americas, Eurasia, and Africa, and have been introduced to Australia. The earliest known squirrels date from the Eocene and are most closely related to the mountain beaver and to thedormouse among living rodent families.


I just come back from my village. I have a wonderful holiday with family and especially when we can play with our naughty squirrel.

Few month ago my little brother save this baby squirrel. His name is "Zupper". My little brother (Nonon) really crazy about this particular character in one of cartoon movie he watch hence our squirrel name after this character.

Nonon don't have any experience in taking care squirrel, however he do everything he could to save this baby squirrel. Since this squirrel is still baby, all he could think is to give "Zupper" drink milk using cotton bud straw.

This is how "Zupper" drink milk. He drink from a cotton bud straw. Of cause its hard for him at first but after a while he get use to it.


After past few weeks, Zupper start to eat and his favorite food was crackers, guava and sausage. 



So when we go back to village this time we were so surprise when we see him getting that big and like to play a lot.

Anyway..the day will come to end, and Zupper going to be release to his natural habitat. So before we do that for the one last time, we took a video of him, playing with him.. For sure we going to miss him but we understand that we cannot keep him forever.

Guess what, once in a while he will come near to the house, make a sound, stay there for few moment before he go back to jungle again. I think he miss his owner.:) At one time he go in to our house when we call his name, this is video of that moment before he go back to his natural habitat on very next day. I guess animal does respect and miss his owner.

This is taken in year 2008 or 09 if i am not mistaken. Few days after i got guitar present from my lovely husband. I can play little bit of cords and so on but not that good. Tugu Nunuk Ragang

Today I am going to write about “Nunuk Ragang”. “Nunuk” is a Dusun word for Banyan tree and “Ragang” is comes from “Aragang” means “Red” which basically if you call it in English its going to be “Red Banyan Tree”. To believe that this is a place of original settlement of the Kadazandusun community who later inhabit most of central Borneo. During conversation with my father this is what he been told from their ancestor. He told me that long time ago the place where you can see the monument now, there is a huge Banyan Tree located between the intersection of the left (Liwagu Kegibangngan or left river) and right (Liwagu Kawananan or Right river). It was under this giant banyan tree that the village of Nunuk Ragang was founded and flourished. Liwagu Kegibangan and Liwagu Kewananan flowing eastward Ranau and Tambunan play an important role as the main route of mass migration to all corners of the Dusun community places in the State.
